Awareness program on hepatitis day organised in SGPGIMS

Lucknow: On World Hepatitis Day, an awareness program was jointly organized by Department of Hepatology and Department of Hospital Administration, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow in collaboration with Department of Gastroenterology, King George’s Medical University, Lucknow with a theme, “Bringing hepatitis care closure to you”.
Dr Lily Singh, Director, Directorate of Medical and Health, Uttar Pradesh was the chief guest of the program.
The inaugural session was taken up by Dr. R. Harsvardhan, Nodal Officer and Head of Department, Hospital Administration, SGPGIMS. Prof. R.K. Dhiman, Director, SGPGIMS delivered a talk on the burden of viral hepatitis and its sequelae.
Prof AK Tripathi, HOD Clinical Hematology and Dean Academics spoke on importance of World Hepatitis Day.
Prof. Gaurav Agarwal CMS, SGPGIMS, closed the inaugural session with a talk on National Viral Hepatitis Control Program of India.
The scientific session started with a talk by Dr Sumit Rungta, Additional Professor, KGMU on burden of viral Hepatitis in India and the State of Uttar Pradesh.
Prof. R.K. Dhiman, Director, SGPGIMS enlightened the audience on National Viral Hepatitis Control Program: A Public Health Initiative.
Dr. A.K. Singh, Director- Sanchari Rog and Dr. Vikasendu Aggarwal, Joint Director, IDSP shared their data on National Viral Hepatitis Control Program in Uttar Pradesh and the way forward to it.
Dr. Madhumita Prem Kumar, Associate Professor, PGIMER, Chandigarh joined the program virtually and shared the Punjab model of Micro-Elimination of Hepatitis C from high-risk population.
Dr Amit Goel, Additional Professor, Department of Gastroenterology, SGPGIMS closed the session with a talk on Stake holders for expanding the program.
More than 100 participants participated in program and got the insights of Hepatitis. The program was successfully conducted with the help from our Chairpersons, Dr U.C Ghosal, HoD, Gastroenterology, SGPGIMS, Dr Virendra Atam, HoD, Internal Medicine, KGMU, Dr Ajay K Patwa, Additional Professor, KGMU and Dr. Himanshu Dandu, Medical Superintendent, KGMU for answering queries of the participants in a insightful way.
